Abstract

This study focuses on bringing to the fore the unwholesome narratives by Twitter users to project their grievances on political issues in Nigeria. The study seeks to examine the place of media regulation and media literacy in the social media space especially in Nigeria. A netnography of the comments and narratives were collated using WordCloud from the twitter user and his supporters from 17th-18th October 2022. Findings show that negative, uncultured and indecent comments were rife. The study concludes that media regulation and media literacy are deficient in the Nigerian media scene, hence, the reason for such aberrations.
