Abstract

Sharing in Web 2.0 is a concept under evolution. Many scholars have shown the lack of concordance on what sharing really means within the context of Web 2.0. This critical review of literature argues that the confusion surrounding sharing is only apparent because of the misdiagnosis of the concept. What is being shared and the platform in which this occurs has changed, however the human person – the subject that shares – has remained the same. In other words, it is not the essence of sharing that has changed, rather it is the form by which sharing is carried out that has evolved. We propose a conceptualization of sharing from the intimacy flows of the shared object, the sharer and the recipient.
